How To Sell on Part 2

I have written previously about how you can sell on and i made emphasis on how you can open an account on on the previous post. This post is a continuation of how to sell on but here we are going to be talking about the seller center dashboard and how to use all the features successfully to your business advantage.

So lets get the ball rolling by going to and login into our Jumia dashboard. The dashboard will look like the one you see below.

And as you can see it there are some different features on the page and each of them have their own action they command. i will be taking you through this features as well as everything you are seeing on the dashboard above as we proceed in this post on how to  sell on,  as you can see we have the product, order, promotion, report, settings and help menu at the top of the dashboard and below it we have the Jumia Tutorials, Jumia Packaging Guidelines, Jumia Operating Guidelines, Jumia Customer Protection Policy, News, Contact, FAQ, Policies and lastly Services.

so lets start with the Help. here you are going to find the getting started, dispute resolution, seller guide, API documentation and lastly jumia training page. when you click on the getting started here is the page that comes up. see image below

and when you click on dispute resolution the following page below is what will comes up. on this page you can create disputes, contact sellercenter request for service and lots of thing related to your store. lets just say this is the customer care center where you lodge your problem.



The next is the SELLER GUIDE and it is a downloadable guide of how the jumia sellercenter work and its something you will need so i will advice you download this guide

and the the next is the API documentation, this feature is mainly for developers and we have no business with it as a seller but if you are a developer then you will find it useful.

and lastly under the HELP menu is the jumia training, here is where all the jumia training course are hosted and you can view them directly from here but you cannot download them, so you should go through them and learn as much as you can and make sure you become familiar with their content and steps.

so now lets get to the PRODUCT MENU, here is where you find everything related to the product you sell, with this feature you can manage products, add products, import products, manage images, use jumia first and API reference

so lets go to the next MENU in the picture which is the SETTINGS. when you click on this menu you will find other sub menus like the

Your Profile which is where you will find all your profile information and manage them when you wish to, Manage Users is where you can add user who can be managing your account for you, you can add them and allocate whatever role you want to give them from here, Document Templates is where the various templates of the sellercenter are, you can get templates from here , modify it and use if you wish to, Integration Management is mainly for developers so we dont have much business with it.

The next menu is the REPORT MENU. this is where you can access Sales Report, Account Statements, Pricing Report and Stock Accounting

The next MENU is the PROMOTIONS MENU, here is where you will set all your jumia promotions you wish to partake in, you will also be able to see all your previous promotions you have done in the past from this menu.

The next menu as seen in the picture is the ORDERS MENU and this is one of the most important menu, because it is from here you see all your orders as well as process them, cancel them, track them or take short it is where you manage all your orders.

The last MENU on the list is the PRODUCTS MENU and this is where everything relating to your product is carried out which include but not limited to managing products, adding products, importing products,, managing images as well as taking part in jumia first promotion. if you click on it you will find the following sub menu; Manage Products, Add a Product, Import Products, Manage Images, and lastly Jumia First.

So now lets talk about how to carryout the various jumia processing and operations

How To List And Manage Products On

it is very important for you to know to know how to list and manage product the proper way. if you dont know how to do this well your products might end up getting rejected for so long that you will be frustrated and even gave up, i have seen many people do that. so to manage product and add new product you will do it at the PRODUCTS MENU. see below how the product menu look like…

so to add a product what you do is to simply click on ADD A PRODUCT, when you do this you will be taken to another page, on this page you will see

‘If it is not in Jumia’s catalog: Create a new Product’ click on the create new product and then you will land on another page that look like the one below where you will be asked to select a category you want to list your product. make sure you select the appropriate category…lets use PHONES AND TABLET category for example, notice that there are other sub category under it and another under that before you are eventually allowed to proceed to the next step.

so once you select all the categories and sub categories you can click on SELECT to take you to the next step. so on the next page you will be asked to enter the following Product Information, More Product Details, Product Pricing and Images. see below…

so what you so here is to enter the Name and Brand, this are important when listing your product, take not of bthe bold, you can choose to enter other information or not, so lets assume you want to list a apple iphone 7, you will enter the name as iphone 7 and the brand will be apple and model and then the color of the phone and ypou can choose to add another categories you want the product to show in and then you click on ENTER PRODUCT DETAIL and you will be taken to the product details tab.

on this tab you will be required to enter the following

Product Specification;  even thou this part is not important and you can choose to skip it if you want, but for the sake of understanding you will be asked to input Product Line, Product Line is a group of related products manufactured by a single company. Sub-branches or different target-groups can be used to describe the product. Example: All age products, Generation Silver, Hipster chick. Color Family is to add a generalization of the main color, to help customers find the product using the provided color-filter in the shop, example: blue, green, red etc. Type: this is generalization of the main material of the product, Example: Leather. Main Material: this is the main material with which the product is made.

Product Description: this part is compulsory and very important.the most important part here is the product description and the highlight, so here you will enter the description of the product you intend to list, make sure you describe the product as much as possible, because the more you tell about the product the more buyers know about your product and know if its something they really need. you can choose to tick the place that say index if your description is a very unique one and you compose it yourself but if not then do not tick. if your product has a youtube video you can put the video link where you see YouTube id. then you can highlight the features and benefit of your item where requested and you also state what will be found in the package when delivered to the seller, and lastly is the Note, put in a note as required.

Measurements: here you will be required to enter the dimension and weight of the product you are listing, make sure you enter the correct dimension and weight of the product.

Additional Product Attributes: here you will be required to enter the product waranty, you can enter the warranty details if there is but if there is none you can simply put N/A all round.

others are

Electronics Attributes: this is mainly for features of the product, most times are not important but mostly important for those selling electronic

Jumia Local: this is for goods that are made or manufactured in Nigeria. so if you have any good made in nigeria you can fill this

Text Manufacturers: this is where you put manufacturers information, i dont fill this part atall and it is not really important but if you want to you can add the information.

so that is all for the more product details tab, so the next is the

PRODUCT PRICING: here you will see the following

Variation: here you will be required to enter the variation of your product, that is if your product have various types or colour you can create the various type and colour variation, you will first create detail for the first variation and then you create subsequent variation, exples is sizes, color variation.

Seller SKU*: this is a unique unique number or code you will be using to identify each of your items, myself for example use to use 001, 002, 003, 004 and so on up to as many product as you have.

EAN / UPC / ISBN: this part is not always important, i always leave it out but if you sell books and other related item, you might want to include it to give your product backing in the face of the buyer.

Quantity: here is where you enter the number of quantity of item you have for sale, say for example you have 100 pieces of the product with you and it is only meant to be sold on jumia then enter 100 here, but if you also sell on other platform you should not attempt entering 100 here rather you should enter the number you want to allocate to be sold on jumi alone.

Price* : here you will enter the price of your item, when putting price here make sure that you do not put in the original price for example if your product price is 5000 naira, you can put 8000 naira here.

Sale Price: here is where you will put the actual price of your product, so if your product is 5000 Naira and you have put something above that at the price area you can now put the actual price you want to sell here which is 5000 Naira and this will be treated as a discount offer once your product is showing live on jumia

Sale Start Date:so here you will put the date you want your item to start showing on the jumia website, also this date means the day your promo price will start.

Sale End Date: here you will put the date your promo sales will end, not that at the end of this date the price that will be showing on jumia for your product is the price which you  discounted, as we said above it will be the 8000 and the 5000 will not be shown and you will need to set a new date after this so buyer buy your product at your original price thinking its a promo

that is all for the product pricing, now the last is the

IMAGES: here you will be required to upload all the images of the product, it is important that you know that you cannot just upload any images on jumia, your images need to comply with the jumia images guideline, the most important is it been very sharp, clear on a white digital background and it should be minimum of 680 x 850 pixel with a maximum of 2000 x 2000 pixel.

so after this you click on Submit and Finish and your product will be awaiting review by jumia and they can either approve or reject for a reason which you will be given, that is one of the roadblock you face if you sell on

so that is all for now, you see sometime it can be frustrating to sell on if your images keep getting rejected by jumia then you will need to have your product shot by jumia studio, yes if you want to have a successful listing i will advice you use jumia studio to shoot your product and if you are not in Lagos company like can help you take your product to jumia for photo shoot.

To register for jumia studio you must already sell on You simply go to the following click here  and the fill the form select a date and attach the studio line sheet which you can download here  and then you can take that along with the invoice to jumia on the required date or send to service like to take there for you if you have your products with them. note that minimum item jumia studio accept is 10.

so now lets talk about how you can manage your product, as you see on the picture posted earlier,

Managing Your Product Inventory

To manage your product you simply go to the PRODUCT MENU and then you click on MANAGE PRODUCTS and you will see all your products overview and you can then choose to do the following EDIT DETAIL, MANAGE PRODUCT IMAGES, DELETE PRODUCT for each of your product listing. and also you will be able to see the following ;

Live: this shows all products that are live on the jumia website, that is product that buyers will be seeing already

Image Missing: this shows your listing that have missing images, you should add images to them.

Poor Quality: this will show you all your listing that is not approved by, you will be required to re edit them and do the needful.

Sold Out: this shows all your product listing that are sold out, you should either off them or update your inventory

Best Selling: this will show your all your bes selling product, you can use this criteria to know hich product you need to put more attention on.

Inactive ; this will show your product that are either Inactive, with Quality Approval Pending, Deleted Products or Not Authorized products.

so this are the most important in the product menu for now, space will not allow me cover the rest but trust me you will be needing them less.. so now let go on to how you process orders to ready to ship.

How To Process Order And Set To Ready To Ship

when you have an order on, it is expected that you set the order to READY TO SHIP in 24 hours, print it and take the order along with the printed document to jumia hub to drop it off.lets take my own account for example, as you can see i have one order. so here is what y do to set it to ready to ship

i will tick the box tick the 2 empty boxes as seen in the photo and the click on where you see Print all document for selected item and select the drop down which says set Status to ready to ship and then click on the button Go and when i do this a popup tab will come up asking me to select a delivery provider i want to drop at, i will then select abule egba as my delivery provider since that is where i am droping at. so when i do this i then click on Create Package & Next and then you will get another popup where you will set to ready to ship, print shipping label and print all document. click on ready to ship and after this you can choose to print all document for the order by clicking on All Document and print document for all selected order. or you can choose to print the carrier manifest or shipping label along by selecting shipping labels or carrier manifest as seen in the image below

So when you do this you will be taken to the printer page to either print or save all document or selected document depending on the one you choose to print, i choose to save the document because i normally send it from my home to my office mail so it will be printed and processed in the office, but you can choose to print yours if your printer is with you.. here is how the page will look like

And then you can package your product and take it to the dropoff hub. please note that if you are using service like you should save the document as seen above and the attach to mail and send to them so they print it on your behalf, package your product and drop off for you.
